Jamey Johnson That Lonesome Song Mercury
Concept albums have almost become a forgotten art in Country Music. For those whose memories don't stretch back to the 60s or the 70s, concept albums usually took a story (or series of stories) and tied them together into a cohesive artistic statement. Willie Nelson's classic PHASES AND STAGES or Porter Wagoner's CONFESSIONS OF A BROKEN MAN come to mind when looking back at some of the better ones in our format. While THAT LONESOME SONG, the Mercury debut from Jamey Johnson might not be a pure concept album, one listen to the bulk of the material here, and you.... MORE

Lee Ann Womack Call Me Crazy MCA Nashville
Calling all crazies: Lee Ann Womack's here to call you out…starting with "Last Call," an instant country classic featuring aching heartbreak and alcohol-rocky with a twist. Accompanied by a sufficiently sad video, the piece is the first single from Womack's eighth album. Lady Antebellum Lady AntebellumCapitol Nashville
Lady Antebellum are a rare success story. They are a trio made up of Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood and Hillary Scott. Charles is the younger brother of pop artist Josh Kelley, and Hillary is the daughter of country music artist Linda Davis. The trio got a lucky break early on in 2007 as guest vocalists on the Jim Brickman song “Never Alone” which peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts. By the end of the year they had signed with Capitol Records. With the unique combination of soulful harmonies and two soulful lead singers, one male, and one .... MORE

Sugarland Love On The Inside Mercury
I really liked Sugarland’s previous two records, however, with the first single, “All I Want To Do,” that was a fun summer song. It was an obvious departure from their earlier work, although the fans didn’t seem to mind a bit, as it became their 3rd No. 1 hit. However, I’d debate that’s in large part due to the perfectly timed release of the song, which hit its stride in the peak of the ‘fun in the sun’ season, and that song was made to be a summer anthem.
Aside from that, the only other songs on the record that really have country single potential are “It Happens,” “Take Me As I Am,” .... MORE
